Sage 200 Standard v Sage 200 Professional – what’s the difference?

Sage 200 is a business management system made for small to medium sized businesses. The system consists of highly integrated software modules that work together to help organisations run smoothly and efficiently.
With Sage 200, businesses can easily share information, manage data and standardise processes across all teams using one integrated system.

The Sage 200 suite is now available in 2 different versions - Sage 200 Standard (cloud-based) and Sage 200 Professional (either a cloud-based or on-premise solution).

The two versions of Sage 200 are based on a common, however there are some elements of functionality that Professional has that are not included in the Standard package.

Sage 200 Standard Features
Considered the entry-level version to the Sage 200 suite, many businesses will naturally progress to Sage 200 Standard once they’ve outgrown the capabilities of Sage 50. Sage 200 Standard caters to organisations across all sectors that have between 10 and 200 employees with a turnover of up to £50 million.

Standard is ideal for organisations wanting to switch to the cloud for the management of their accounts and business processes. Using a cloud-based accounting solution allows you to access your company’s data from anywhere, at any time.

The core module for Sage 200 Standard is Financials. This is the central hub of the Standard system where all other modules feed financial accounting information into the nominal ledgers.

Standard also includes Commercials which enables users to manage purchase order processing, sales order processing, invoicing, price book and perform advanced stock management, so goods can be dispatched quickly and efficiently. Standard is also compliant with the Making Tax Digital Ready legislation.

Sage 200 Standard is very powerful, highly scalable, and simple to use, however it can’t be customised – it’s intended to be an out of the box, straightforward solution. An ever expanding library of 3rd party extensions can add further functionality plus the fully-feature API allows custom connections to be developed.

On the other hand, Sage 200 Professional is highly flexible and can be customised to fit your own business’s particular needs, including bespoke development actually within the product.

Sage 200 Professional Features
Sage 200 Professional has all the features of Standard and also allows you to purchase extra modules such as CRM, Manufacturing, Business Intelligence, and Project Accounting. Unlike the Standard version, Sage 200 Professional is highly customisable and is ideal for businesses with more complex processes.

For this reason, Professional is particularly popular with businesses in the manufacturing and professional services sectors. It’s also highly popular with organisations that have a requirement for a reliable CRM system, as the Sage 200 Professional CRM module ensures users can manage customers and prospects extremely effectively.

Professional can be either hosted in the cloud or deployed as an on-premise solution. We can configure either deployment method to allow users to access their data from any place at any time.

Which Would Suit My Business More - Sage 200 Standard or Sage 200 Professional?
Both Sage 200 Standard and Sage 200 Professional use the same software, however the Professional version offers more features and added personalisation options such as advanced Manufacturing and Document Management modules. The capabilities of Sage 200 Professional are likely needed in organisations where business processes are more complex, such as the manufacturing and distribution sectors.
